Hereford & Hops Java King Stout

[Growler] shared by skyview. Pours deep brown with a smallish beige head. Aroma is coffee grounds, musty basement, and some wet carpet. Flavor is thin and bittersweet. Loads of old coffee grounds and roasted barley.

On draught at the Hereford & Hops brewpub in Wausau, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy and think beige head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma has an "in-yer-face" coffee grounds scent with a hint of chocolate and toasted dark malts with some lemon zest. Taste is full bodied, distinct dark coffee and a mild toasted dark malt flavor. Finish is semi-sweet with a lingering coffee aftertaste that really sticks to your tongue. Try this with a small spoon of vanilla ice cream and you could be drinking an excellent tasting creamed coffee beer.
