On tap at the Wausau brewpub on 6/24/07: Pours a mostly opaque black with a coating of well-lacing frothy dark tan head. Aroma of sweet rich dark caramel with a touch of chocolate and plum complexity. Body starts with good fullness and sweet sticky dark caramel malt before some earthy bittering hoppiness with a touch of dark fruits and a black peppery warming finish. Needs to hide its abv better, but still a pretty nice imperial stout.

black, fine beige head, drippy lace, light dark chocolate aroma with a touch of roasted, creamy body, rich chocolate flavor, nice vanilla and licorice sweetness, touch of balancing hops blended with a light roasted character, fleeting hint of alcohol just adds to the sweetness

The aroma has oatmeal and light coffee. Flavor has a touch of chocolate, and roasted malt. Black and quite thick, but I didn’t enjoy this as much as everyone else.

A Wausau filled growler shared at joebrew’s BBQ by brewfiend pours an opaque dark brown brew with an average tan head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and tan ring. Aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, toasted dark malt, lactose and oatmeal. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation and a very sweet flavor of dark chocolate lactose sweetness, dark fitted fruits and some oatmeal. Finish is semi-dry with a slight bitterness at fist and then a toasted malty aftertaste. Road Trip to Wausau!!

Shared at Joebrew’s BBQ; courtesy of Brewfiend. Growler. Black color with a medium head. Monster coffee and chocolate aroma. Strong, bitter malt taste with a little oatmeal to sweeten it up. Coffee and chocolate are still there in a very nice harmony. Damn fine!

On tap at the Wausau WI location. Rich roasted malt nose with a nice dry coffee aroma. Pitch black color with nice brown head. Very well done body with similar flavors as in the aroma but with the addition of oatmeal and lactose. Perhaps the faintest hint of fruits in the very finish.

Deep auroma and a beautiful pour. Wow, really impressed with this beer. Bit of a coffee flavo with no bitter aftertaste. Think this is my fav. Hereford and Hops beer to date.
