Received in a trade. Seemed really cloudy so I set it in the fridge for a week. Big psssst from the bottle when opening. Almost thought it was going to foam out of the bottle. Poured a glass of foam that kept rising. Taste of the foam and it is very bad. Sour infected beer. A full sip of the liquid confirms that this is not drinkable.

Tap at Volo - unlike a certain good fellow I did not feed my pint to the nearby potted Chrysanthemums LOL. House yeast character is notably present, making this an earthy, uneasy sweet light-tasting dark lager of a herbal character - it reminds me more of any given bad dark ale from Ontario. Dilute. Simplistic sweet toasted malts. As the man watering the flowers with this beeralready mentioned, the hops are neither prominent, nor of any notable character.

2009-10-01. Brown, small beige head. Awful weird aroma does not warrant description. Flavour is similar, harsh dry malt, light astringency, rough. Average to thin bodied palate. Not sure what is going on here but it did not work for me at all. On tap at C’est What

July 2007. Bottle at LCBO Summerhill Tasting. Chestnut brown body with a small off white head. Sweet aroma of brown sugar, dark malt, and a light nutty note. (6+) Sweet malt in the flavour has a mild nutty roast, and a light bitterness that increases slightly with each sip and lingers pleasantly in the finish. Aftertaste. Better than I recalled it being. 6+/3/7/3/14 - 3.3 <P>TFOB August 2003. Copper/amber colour, Bit of malt and hops in the aroma, more bitter than I was expecting. Better than the lager. 5/3/6/3/14 - 3.1

On tap @ Volo. Nose is candied malt, clear garnet with minimal tan head. Taste is a candied malt, reminds me of root beer, light bodied, sweet, uninspired. Where the heck are the hops?

Sweet malt, caramel aroma. Copper, medium vanilla head. Very hoppy at first, malty aftertaste, hint of orange. Quite bitter, for the style, fairly well balanced though. A good Dunkel.

341 ml bottle from brewery, served cool in a tulip glass. Special edition brewed with fresh Hallertauer hops.

App.: Deep copper, clear, rim of off-white head. Aroma: Sweet malts, nutty, light chocolate, a little woody/vinous, some bread crust, not much in the way of hop notes. Palate: Medium body and sparse carbonation. Flav.: More of the sweet malts, nutty, a touch woody and a bit fruity, a touch of floral hops?; off-dry with very little bitterness.

I guess I should try this alongside the regular version. Not a particularly impressive brew.

Bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Faint aroma of light roasted malts, toffee and some mustyiness. Flavor was sour malts, grains and a touch of caramel with some acidic notes. Dont bother

At the Tulip Festival which was nice because I didn’t have to settle for a Canadian or Coors Light. Copper, brown colour with malt aroma. Taste is nuts and malts. Not bad, but there are better.
