Commercial Description:
A strong and malty brown lager brewed traditionally in spring to celebrate the coming of warmer weather. Full bodied and strong, this beer is one of the berwer’s favorites.

One of the worst bocks I have ever had. Very dry and bitter. Some hops. No caramel or any other sweet flavors, but kind of a vegetable/plant matter character. This recipe needs to be entirely redone.

On draught during Winterfest 2009 in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy caramel amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some light chocolate, some pear/fruit, and a touch of floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of mild caramel malt, floral hops and some toffee. Finish is slightly metallic with a thin caramel and fruity aftertaste.

TAP: at the Herkimer on 2.1.09. Pours a clear red/brown, very mild aroma. A little bit of malt in the taste, but pretty bland. Not a great bock.

The beer is a very clear reddish brown or deep copper color, topped by two inches of soft and fluffy light tan foam. Moderately effervescent with good head retention, leaving plenty of webby lace. Awesome dry toasted malt aroma, also a little fruity. Plentiful toasted malt throughout with a bit of dry chocolate malt up front. The chocolate flavor almost completely disappears after the first sip, but if you wait a bit between glasses, it returns in the first sip of your next glass. The finish provides a subtle fruit flavor, a bit of oak, and hop bitterness for balance. The toasted malt and hops blend for a long, pleasant aftertaste. Medium body, prominent carbonation

Kinda weak for a bock, nice color though. Bland, easy to drink, but when i have a bock, i want some kick to it!

Dark Brown Coloring. No Head. Pretty Subtle Bock Overall. Little Taste. Some Hints of Malt in the Aroma and Taste. About as Session-y as you Can Get.

Dark brown color with no head. Some vague malt aroma. Slightly sweet taste, but the semi-existent malt vanishes. I swear, there is damn near no taste, period. I’d say it’s disappointing, but I wasn’t expecting much anyway.
