Commercial Description:
A golden lager both less dry and less bitter than our Pilsner, this brew fits the bill for beer drinkers looking for something simple and good. Hailing from the city of Dortmund, this style of beer is sometimes called “Export”.

On draught at the Herkimer brewpub in uptown, Minneapolis, MN. Pours a clear golden pale blonde brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a thin white ring and minimal lacing. Aroma of fruity character with golden grain malt, a touch of apple, white bread and some floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, minimal carbonation with flavors of golden grain malt, sweet floral hops, with a touch of dark pitted fruits. Finish has a nice balance that is not too dry or overly sweet, yet still has a mild bitterness.

Clear golden color with a medium head. Aroma of buttered grains. Strong bread and raw grain taste, substantially balanced out by Noble floral hops. Very solid.

Pours a clear yellow gold, initially topped by an inch of white bubbly foam. Okay head retention, a bit of lacing. Mild dry malt aroma. Smooth and clean and fresh tasting bier, a nice blend of mildly sweet and deliciously dry malt. Lightly hopped for balance and subtle character. Refreshing, lively, and very easy to drink.

Solid clear yellow with a small white head that fades to a small skim and ring and very light stringy lace. Smell is like a dull musty washcloth, but very light and soapy like, yuk. Taste brings out the the mustyness a bit more with dull melon husks and pear skin. Slight woodish and mineral-like quality mixed with light Froot Loops and dish soap. More yuk. Lighter to medium body, but it ain't helpin' it any with light lingering unripe fruity drying into the finish. Unpleasant and way off track for the style.
