Black colour with ruby edges. Bubbly tan head. The Ashford sample had too much butter on the aroma for me. Sourish in mouth, but the dominated by butter/caramel. Faint dark malts make their way through, but I wasn’t keen. The Canterbury sample was similar but a little less butter/caramel. Still not something I would want again.1.5/5.0
Re-rate County Hotel, Ashford. So much better. Decent black stout, more like a dunkel really. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England

Was a little dissapointed and i’m hoping that maybe this wasn’t in the best condition. Aroma is roasty and sweet, with some light sourness. Palate was a little sour, but with some underlying roasty sweetness, which was quite pleasant. I will look to try this again at another Wetherspoons, just to make sure it wasn’t the condition of the beer at this pub. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England

A black coloured beer with apleasant tan coloured head. The aroma is very full and welcoming. Treacle, malt, chocolate, sweet lactic chanracteristics. The taste is simialr but with the addition of licquorice. A tasty chewy beer. Well brewed and lovely.
