"Poured a dark brown with an okay head, lacin wasn’t great. Aroma was of coffee lots of coffee and some roastedness. Flavor was the same with some carmel malts in it. Mouthfeel was thin for most of the beer, but got better as it warmed."

Poured from bottle into a dimpled mug. Has a nearly black color with hints of ruby at the edges of the mug. It developed a light brown head that was short-lived. I noticed some toastiness and molasses initially in the nosing, and soon afterwards I got some mild noble hops. In the flavor I noticed some nice smokiness that I didn’t catch in the aroma. A very smooth and easy drinker!

In the 0.5L bottle from New Pioneer Co-Op in Iowa City. Pours black with a light brown head. Medium carbonation. Excellent roasted coffee aroma. Good thick palate. Chocolate and smoke flavor. Pretty sweet- almost candy-like. Quite good and quite a bargain at $1.99 a bottle.

Very dark red brown with a small off-white head. Smokey roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate. The taste was creamy, smooth, with dark malt, liquorice and a slight bitterness.

Poured a dark mahogney with a big off-white head. Roasty malt aroma with some dark fruits (maybe prunes). Flavor was just great, roasted malts, a slight burnt caramel flavor with a hint of smoke. A very smooth drinking beer WOW.

Very dark red in color. Faint burnt scent. Clear burnt taste, some iron like flavour. A nice Schwartzbier.
