Pours a very dark pint, with a large head that diminished quickly.
Aroma is of coffee, chocolate and malt.
Tastes of chocolate, coffee, and the malts come thru at the end of the taste along with Saaz hop at the end of the taste.
Very nice beer, and certainly look different! Maria (6307), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Almost black with a nice head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, just like the flavour, that also have notes of licorice and caramel. It’s a nice schwartzbier, with a nice balance and less sweetness than many German ones. Roasty coffee aroma with a little dust too. Dry flavor, some roasted bitterness. medium-light body with crisp carbonation. A good beer, but draught is clearly the way to go for the best lagers in Prague. Dezzilu (212), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 30, 2007 I think this is a perfect looking beer in the glass: all dark and rich, with the lacey white head. The aroma also is quite nice, with the sweet hops and roasted malt. However, this is where the compliments end. The flavor was smooth, but probably because it was almost non-existent (water). The finish was much of the same, very bland. I was really disappointed because I had hopes that this would be more. However, I am sure this would be easy to pound off the tap, which is saying something. Cheers. begbie100 (165), Oulu, Finland
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2007 500ml bottle. Light brown head, diminishes fast. Very dark reddish black. Sweet aroma with plums, coffee and roasted malts. Nice. Palate is smooth, oily. Flavour is roasted malts.. sweetiness doesn’t follow in flavour. Somewhat thinner that aroma andd appearance would hint. Pwn3d (1087), Manhattan, New York, USA

Pitch pour with a glint of ruby and dirty yellowish suds. Peardrop-fruity kilned barley aroma with hints of oak and a faint beefiness. Can smell it a mile off. Rusty iron dusted with hot chocolate powderiness. A teaspoon of brine. Silky chocolate graininess underpinned with dark but almost citrussy fruit. Unexpectedly excellent schwarzbier. (Re-rate) Bottle from Tossco. Citrussy fruit?? None whatsoever. Black milk pour with an outlandish yellow barnet. Serious roast, cocoa and iron. Notably full-bodied and stouty for the style. A sniff of Marmite, a dollop of brine. The Baltic via St. James’ Gate. Simple wholesome dry stoutbier, wickedly drinkable, still worth a 3.7.
