Commercial Description:
Golden Revolution heralds the arrival of a new Czech pilsner standard. This handcrafted, dry hopped imperial pilsner sends a powerful message to the pilsners that have come before. Echoing the words of one of the Velvet Revolution's heroes as he dismissed the communists, Golden Revolution proclaims: "Thank you, now go away".

Light honey and sweet malt aroma. Light golden brown body offers a medium palate. The taste is sweet foremost. Honey and sweet malt--just like the aroma promised. Pilsner yeast is detectable for sure. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured with a fruity aroma and apple cider smell. Golden yellow. Flavor is sweetish with a fairly thick body. Alcohol is noticable. Ok overall.

Caged and corked 750 ml bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City, IA. Clear golden orange color. Head was bubbly and white, but reduced pretty quickly and didn’t leave much lace. Aroma is dominated by fruits, like a mix pineapple and apple cider. There were also grassy hops and a touch of malty cereal grain. Slightly sweet on the tongue with malty caramel and husky grain flavors. Warm splash of alcohol at the end accompanied by a touch of vegetal hops. Not all that pleasing.

Poured a clear golden copper color with a small white head. Sweet candy like notes with floral hops and light wheaty character. The flavor is sweet at the start and finish. Hoppy finish. Semi-dry and yeasty. Some alcohol warmth.

From a 750 ml bottle. The body is the color of a tarnished brass instrument. There is a scummy white head on top. The aroma is a little tropical with pineapple and some almonds. There is also a little hint of molasses. The taste has lots of sweet honey and there is some canned pineapple in the finish. There is not much else going on here. I have no idea of the goal of this beer. Herold will not be leading the Revolution as they have made another expensive and sickly sweet loser.

C&C 750 from the MJRBC. Clear gold with a foamy white head that disappears quickly. Sweet honey and caramel in the nose, some flowery hops. Sweet flavor, very much honey based. Some butter and light biscuit. Slick, light syrup body. Sweet malt and light grass finish. Eh. Good, but too syrupy sweet.

Thanks to Redlight for providing this one! Pours with a short-lived white cap of foam over a viscous golden body (slow moving bubbles of carbonation struggle to reach the surface). Not much aroma to speak of: white wine, bubblegum. Taste is more of the same. Something’s just not sitting right with me on this one. When cold, way too hot on the back end to distinguish much bitterness. As it warms, still no bitterness. Hmm. . . . Too sweet for my taste.

Yellow orange. Off-white foam rapidly dwindles into a thin collar. Terribly dull, unrefined nose of stewed apples, honey, popcorn and DMS. Scarcely a whisper of anise-tinged grassy hops. Obviously forced carbonation wreaks havoc on the palate. Body sports a slippery limpness. Poor attenuation is apparent right the start, as honey-drenched stewed apples saturate the palate with a soppy sweetness. Alcohol attempts to clean things up by lifting the sweetness to reveal some spicy hop derivatives, but the metallic DMS and fusel intensity squelch all potential brightness. Flavors are simplistic, dirty, underdeveloped and muddled beyond belief. Not even the remotest hint of cleanliness and absolutely no bright hoppiness either. Malts are entirely nonexistent with the exception of some dusty graininess. Finishes soppy-sweet with prevalent notes of alcohol, tongue-numbing DMS, stewed apples, and nary a hint of grassy bitterness. Interesting that this is not bottle-conditioned, but seemingly claims to be, what with the corked seal and all. I’m trying, but I can find not one redeeming quality in this beer. It sports an embarrassingly dirty and fruity aroma, and, frankly, bears an uncanny resemblance to apple juice, not only in the aroma and flavor, but the texture as well. Not to mention the prickly carbonation, overt sweetness, lack of cleanliness. No aromatic malt or hop brightness, either. Even six ounces were tough to bear. The list goes on and on. Back to the drawing board with this one.
