| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Courtesy of kp. Pours a clear gold with white head. The aroma is sweet malts and some sweet wheat malts. The taste is the same sweet malts and sweet wheat malts noticed in the nose plus the addition of some nice fresh hop spice and floral noble hops that are on par with the malts creating some nice balance. It ends somewhat hoppy in flavor mixed with the sweet malts. It is fresher and more balanced than the DFH version. I liked it. It would be great on a hot Tampa day. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Yellow body with a small white head. Sweet pale malt aroma, alcohol, light hops, hint of playdoh. (6+) Sweet flavour with honey, light bitterness, hints of paste (Playdoh and paste? Is there a kindergarten in the brewery?) Smooth medium palate. (3+) It is not unpleasant but it becomes a bit much. 6+/3/6-7/3+/13<P>

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Xmas in Oshawa. Thanks! Gold, no head. Nose is honey, clay. Flavor is honey, alcohol, sweet wort, alcohol. Too sweet, too much alcohol, not enough hop presence to balance. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 22, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear golden body with a small, creamy white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling honeyed, floral, cereal aroma. Notes of tropical fruits.
Taste: A strong sweetness grabs hold from the get-go. with a strong fruitiness and flavors of green apples, pineapples, and melons. Any Saaz hop character within must’ve perished of diabetes long ago. Alcoholic, intensely sugary finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Some hops, some hops, my kingdom for some hops. From start to finish this beer is just sickeningly sweet. It’s a chore to finish a glassful of the stuff let alone the entire 750ml bottle. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Courtesy kp. Pours a clear gold, with a small white head. Smells very grainy, definite malt presence, with just the smallest hops noticeable. Very sweet, overly so, really grainy. Not really a big fan of this at all. Way too sweet for this style, just throws it out of wack and gives it no balance whatsoever. I guess this is possibly what they were going for since it is supposed to be a clone of the DFH Golden Shower. Either way, not for me. Edmoe (130), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Clear yellow, Aroma is like a nice pilsner but more intense. Flavor is very clean, bitterness and sweetness almost completely balanced (favors sweetness a tad). Medium bodied. Not sure if as boldly flavored as Sam Adams Imp. Pils (need side by side comparison) but very refreshing, very drinkable. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Nov 1, 2007 I really didn’t know what to make of this beer. I think the "Imperial Pilsner" (which is how this beer describes itself) is a pretty broad space to work in, and this beer was really different than the other Imperial Pilsner I’ve had recently (Sam Adams). I didn’t enjoy the Sam Adams Imperial Pilsner a great deal, but I enjoyed this one less. It seemed somehow more of a maibock or doppelbock than a pilsner, and for "a new Czech pilsner standard," it left me wishing I was holding a Pilsner Urquell instead of this beer.
Comes in a big magnum bottle with a cork that came out easily enough. Apearance was a dark gold/straw color with very minimal head, despite my hard pouring (in an effort to coax some out). Aroma was perfume-y and like champagne. Flavor was caramel-y at first but became sweeter and distinctly cereal-y as it warmed. It did remind me a great deal of a rather marginal maibock/doppelbock. Mouthfeel was thick and syrupy. SurlySober and I did not finish the bottle.
Not recommended.
