Commercial Description:
A well-hopped riuby-red Czech classic, brewed using the finest Saaz hops, specially selected malts and pristine water from the brewery’s own well. This full-bodied beer shows that there is more to the Czech Republic than Pilsner.

Bottle from Pivovarsky Klub. Dark orange vienna. Eggy taste and amazingly creamy. Some malty, roastier notes. Bitter aftertaste. Quite a subtle beer.

Bright umber color with a moderate taupe head. Lightly toasted malt surrounded by a light floral scent. Somewhat sweet and simple in scent. Dry toasted malt flavors as well. Toffee and a light herbal bitterness. In a blind tasting I would have called this a typical american bock, darker and simple in most ways.

courtesy of oh6gdx - clear and bright amber-brown colour, little but firm pale beige head, some sweet toasted malts backed up by a decent aromatic hoppiness and some toffee notes; sweet and creamy mouthfeel, a late bitterness and a long finish of caramel - a good one

0.5 l bottle. Dark amber color with beige head. Sweetish aroma of toffee, caramel and toasted bread. Lots of caramel and toasted malt in flavor which gradually changes into nice chocolatey and bitter finish.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Described as "Bohemian Granat" from "Pivovar Herold Breznice" and exclusive to JDW. A hazy chestnut colour with a dense cream head; a vegetative taste, not unpleasant, but slightly sour; with a nutty, fruity finish.

(Bottle BB 06/03/07) Caramel, slightly roasted and slightly hoppy aroma with a hint of metalness. Red brown colour, clear and average size, light brownish, more or less fully diminishing head with faint lacing. Sweet, caramel, slightly roasted and slightly bitter flavour. Soft/lively carbonated and medium-bodied palate with a hint of metalness. 19/04/07

Copper colored with a tan bubbly head. Aroma of hay and roasted malt. Lighty sweet to bitter flavor. Bread-like, malty flavor, earthy. Light metallic tinge. Finished on a mild bitter note. Watery palate with decent carbonation. Not bad.
