Commercial Description:
12 degrees Plato. Brewed in the clasic Bavarian style, no longer common among Czech brewers. We use local wheat and pilsner malts, Saaz hops, yeast bartered from a small Bavarian brewery, and well water to brew a unique sample of Bohemian wheat. The beer is lagered for 50 days, and bottled without filtration.

Bought this at specialty czech pivo shop in prague, along with the next four beers rated. Drank this on a promenade next to the St. Charles Bridge on a goregous early may evening. Tastes like halloween. Candy corn and lime overtures to the taste. Palate firm, nice, delicious. I can say I love this beer.

Pours a lightly cloudy golden bronze with a puffy, but short-lived white head. Nicely spiced, clove, and pepper aroma with some banana and sweet wheatiness. Starts with a nice malt and wheat sweetness with mild Saaz hop balance, leading to a crisp, peppery, but thin finish. Could use some more body, but otherwise a very authentic and drinkable hefeweizen.

Dark gold, with a thin white head. Crisp, spicy "wheaty" aroma, accompanied by a peppery, almost jalpeno-like aroma. Very spicy, wthi chilie theme carrying through the flavor. Slightly smoky, crisp finish.

I really enjoyed this Hefe. Typical of the Bavarian style with the banana clove flavors. I really like this style and this one is an excellent version.

Hazy gold. Big bubbly white head. Malt, some indiscernable sweetness, bit of alcohol and corn in the nose. Same flavor. Very smooth, drinkable. Excellent for burgers by the pool in the summertime.

500 ml bottle, Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. Pours a murky medium golden to light orange with a fluffy white head with decent sticky lacing. Aroma has some banana notes with some cloves as well. Flavor has some requisite bubblegum notes, but not overblown and too sticky sweet. Cloves and banana are noticed as well. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky. Very decent Hefe.

500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Label says " Herold hefeweizen Bohemian Wheat Lager Kvasnicové psenícné pivo - kvasnícový svetlý lezák 12 degrees plato unfiltered blond lager ABV 5.1%". So is this a "real" hefeweizen (which I thought were technically ales?), or is it a wheat lager with hefeweizen yeast added in the bottle? Or am I asking stupid questions? Anyway, the beer is "murky golden" with a large to moderate head. Aroma is fairly sweet and fruity (blackberries/brambles, blackcurrants?) with hints of sheepshed and old leather. Lagerish elements. Some cloves too, but not as strong as with most German hefeweizens. Flavour is a strange combination of a typical premium lager and a typical hefeweizen. Moderately spicy. Dusty finish. Not bad.

Large head with great carbonation. Yeasty, wheat and citrus aroma. Good hops presence. Medium gold in color. Mild flavor. Spicey with more yeast and wheat. Nice bitterness up front also. Finish has a lingering bitterness and spiceness. A decent wheat brew.
