Commercial Description:
12 degrees Plato. Brewed in the clasic Bavarian style, no longer common among Czech brewers. We use local wheat and pilsner malts, Saaz hops, yeast bartered from a small Bavarian brewery, and well water to brew a unique sample of Bohemian wheat. The beer is lagered for 50 days, and bottled without filtration.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, cookie), with a strong note of banana. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Liquid banana bread. Tasty stuff.

The aroma has a tiny bit of vinegar, banana, and coriander with yeast and honey. The appearance is golden and not too hazy with a fizzy head. The flavor is slightly sour with citrus and all of the elements of the aroma. The palate is thin. I was expecting much more.

500ml bottle. Pours cloudy pale golden with a fizzy white head that soon disappears. Aroma of banana, honey, yeast, and a hint of lemon. Soft but crisp, with flavors of wheat and honey and some citric tartness, yeast and clove spicyness. Appearance was a bit lame but the taste was decent. Not a bad hefe, typical but enjoyable.

Typical Hefe in my opinion. Banana and honey dominate, but are poorly mixed and the taste was rather offputting, heavy on the honey end, but less sugar. Hmmm. Somewhat acidic towards the end. still, I finished it so it couldn’t have been that bad.

Cloudy gold w/ fizzy white foam. Yeasty aroma of banana & honey. Light, mildly syrupy feel. Sweet, malty flavour reminiscent of banana cream pie.

Bottle. Strong wheat, yeast, and clove elements in the nose. Banana also makes an appearance. Hazy golden with a fine, lacing white head. Crisp and spicy, tart acidic end. Medium-full body. Hops are a little different here. Carbonation’s too strong.

Straw colored pour, a quick initial carbonation head, didn’t stick around long at all after the fizzles went away. Lots of carbonation bubbles on display in the weizen glass. Aroma was strong wheat with only light bananas and clove present. The flavor was pretty awesome, one of the more drinkable weizens, yet it still had the clove and banana elements present. Avoided sugar/sweet put off tendencies by more emphasizing the wheat malt. Finishes more crisp than many a hefe, as well, perhaps because this is a true lagered example of a hefe. Mouthfeel was moderate but heaviliy carbonated.

Pours hazy straw into the glass with a decent bubbly head and spider lace. True hefe-esque aromas, with spiced honey predominating. I detect honey, spice and wheat with a touch of banana and clove to boot, albeit a little weak for they style. Nice soft clovish finish that semi-numbs the palate. Well carbonated, and decent hefe offering here. I wish the flavors were a bit stronger, but that’s just me.
