Commercial Description:
12 degrees Plato. Brewed in the clasic Bavarian style, no longer common among Czech brewers. We use local wheat and pilsner malts, Saaz hops, yeast bartered from a small Bavarian brewery, and well water to brew a unique sample of Bohemian wheat. The beer is lagered for 50 days, and bottled without filtration.

Bottle at ’December at DougShoemaker’s 2005’ -- courtesy of Radek. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a small diminishing white head. Typical Wheat beer aroma, smells nice. Typical Wheat beer flavour but a touch watery. It’s alright.

Bottle, Doug’s Christmas 05. Dark yellow, small white head. Bready aroma with some wheat. Mild lemon wheat taste. Rather short finish. Just ok, maybe a little old.

Slightly hazy, gold with white ring on top. Sweet wheat bread like aroma , soft malty nose behind . This hybrid is soft as many Czech brews are , refreshing , velvety texture . More on malt side than wheat one.

Perhaps past its prime. Good wheat aroma. Lace, appearance. Light mouthfeel. Disapointed in that the taste may love lost some edge. The malt and caramel, bitterness and spice, maybe oxidation. Also sour finish. Shared with Radek, he found on one of the on-line beer sites.

Grassy, musty and hay-like aroma. Deep yelloworange with a large fast fading head. Spritzy with bannana and clove notes and a touch of hay in the finish.

For an unfiltered beer, this hefeweizen is a fairly clear gold with an initially tall, rocky head. Which vanishes quickly. The aroma is wheaty and yeasty with a light, spicy banana scent. It’s not as soft in the mouth as most of the beers in the style that I’ve had. The flavor is a light malt with wheat, banana, some clove and spices. Dry finish. It’s a quencher all right, but not a great hefe.
