Commercial Description:
12 degrees Plato. Brewed in the clasic Bavarian style, no longer common among Czech brewers. We use local wheat and pilsner malts, Saaz hops, yeast bartered from a small Bavarian brewery, and well water to brew a unique sample of Bohemian wheat. The beer is lagered for 50 days, and bottled without filtration.

Bottle, 5.0% as Herold Bohemian Wheat Lager. Quite clovey aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. White head. Distinct flavour, clove and citrus. The citrus is slightly lemony and turns a bit rough in combination with the bitterness. The aftertaste is rough and not so pleasant.

Light gold. Smokey phenols - I know I love smoke but I'm still amazed at how much I love a hint of these in a weizen. Light banana in the aroma turns to big, sweet banana in the palate.

(1/17/05) Frothy medium white head atop a lightly hazed apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, apple, banana, clove. Taste is medium sweet, banana, some clove, apple, wheat, light tartness in the finish. Light body with light acidity. Decent, but not quite as good as I remembered it. (6/3/7/3/13). (3/9/03) Creamy small white head atop a slightly hazy golden body. Aroma is banana and clove, supported by faint vanilla/peach. Taste is very much the same, though it finishes with mild lemon sourness. Very soft and smooth palate -- marinaro500 has it right, it’s like liquid banana bread. Best when cold -- loses its "freshness" when it warms. (7/4/7/4/15).

1. Cask Handpump at the Palladium, Llandudno (JDW) 19/07/2005 Golden coloured with a slightly hazy appearance. Lemon fruit flavour. Some dryness in a lasting finish. 2. Cask Handpump at the Penny Black, Northwich (JDW) 02/08/2005 Golden coloured and hoppy with a cloudy appearance. Spciy and lemon aroma and flavour. Crisp slightly bitter creamy finish.

Clear, deep golden lager. The nose is of clove and peach. The flavor is thin, but well-balanced and renders the same spicy and fruity notes as the aroma. Light-bodied and fizzy. Short, crisp, clean finish. One of my least favorite styles of beer and not really all that good for the style.

Pours a lightly cloudy golden bronze with a puffy, but short-lived white head. Nicely spiced, clove, and pepper aroma with some banana and sweet wheatiness. Starts with a nice malt and wheat sweetness with mild Saaz hop balance, leading to a crisp, peppery, but thin finish. Could use some more body, but otherwise a very authentic and drinkable hefeweizen.

Cask conditioned (unbelievably) at a Wetherspoons. Orange gold with bubbly white head. Just when you lose interest in Wetherspoons, they come up with something like this, a cask Hefeweizen, well served, bliss. I was drinking with a work buddy, who is recently weaned off pale lagers, give this a go I says. Well pained expressions throughout but we both agreed this perfumed, flavoursome, spicy mix was worth trying. Cloves and Cinamon flavours in a wheaty thickish base. Pauls comment was ’nice, but I don’t think I will have another one today’ and here lies the rub, us Brits like inoffensive supping ales in quantity, this is definitely a quiet sipping beer. Fine all the same.
