ChristianScheffel (4481), Odense, Denmark Jul 2, 2009 Golden with a small white head. Aroma of somewhat grainy malt. Sweet malty and caramel flavour with a weak fruity note, and chewy cereal (oats?) Probably lacks some yeast esters to be a truly impressive English ale. chrisv10 (343), Denmark May 20, 2009 Not a very challenging beer, it’s a bit bitter but generally there isn’t much flavor. It’s basically pretty boring.
Sigmund (2273), Hafrsfjord, Norway Mar 25, 2009 500 ml bottle, kindly brought home from Copenhagen by my wife. Brew #199, ABV is 5.9%. Hazy deep golden colour, huge white (slightly off-white?) head. Lovely fruity aroma of Amarillo hops, notes of citrus, hints of resin and tropical fruits. The zesty flavour has distinct and fruity Amarillo hops from start to finish, on a decent malty background - well balanced. Not too sweet. Moderate but sufficient bitterness. A pleasant drop. hazy golden with a creamy white head. Floral hops and sweet caramel. Vague fruityness and fine bitterness. Medium bodied. Would have liked the hops a little more aggressive and fruity. OK nevertheless! Jukkabro (3005), Tampere, Finland Feb 8, 2009 Gold colored with little white head. Slightly hopped aroma with fruits and some yeast. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is also rather thin with thin hops and lemon. Rather bland one. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Dec 17, 2008 Orsted Olbar, Copenhagen. Malty sweetness on the nose. Soft, easy palate. Ok but not great in all categories. Nice to quaff, nothing special. harrisoni (6770), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 11, 2008 On tap at EBF 08. Cloudy orange gold, thin beige head. Earthy aroma. Good hop. Quite tasty, but maybe doesn’t quite sing as it should. Amarillos are quite restrained. OK. oh6gdx (8840), Vasa, Finland Oct 7, 2008 Bottled. Hazy orange golden colour with mediumsized white creamy head. Some lace. Aroma is mild fruits, some grass as well as mild notes of caramel and some sap. Flavour is fruity and quite wooden. Ends in a fruity and grassy bitterness. Pleasant.
