rauchbier (2873), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Sep 12, 2005 Bottle conditioned, from Morrisons. Hazy chestnut, good lasting pale beige head and gentle condition. Gentle fruitiness initially in the nose, with some developing raisin and fig notes, a gentle woody tartness and a strange ripe Edam cheese aroma. Quite yeasty in the mouth, lots of figs and chocolate with a touch of oxidation, obvious alcohol and a gentle fruity tartness. Dry with hints of chocolate powder and oaky woodiness in the finish with just a suggestion of tartness lingering.
