Ober (187), Best, Netherlands May 15, 2008 It’s a clear dark red/brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma has a lot a dark fruits, it is sweet and malty. In the taste are the dark fruits, like berries, prum and raisins. It’s a little spicy and it has some bitterness. It’s a different beer than many years ago, but still a good one.
chilangoglobal (46), Wagerningen, Netherlands Jun 29, 2008 My comments are based in comparations to other strong ale I tasted before. This beer has a poor aroma, too much ethanol aroma, so it is difficult to discover another aromas, appearance: color is pretty good actualy but soon foam dissapear and a minimal head ramains, at the end it becomes nothing which makes a naked beverage far to look like a good ale. flavor is pretty good actualy, bit watery but adequeale balance between malt taste and bitterness, leaparsons (3774), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Beers of the World Live, NEC. Dark red brown with no head. Aromas are molasses with lots of plummy fruit, yeast and light woody notes. Flavours are rich malts with raisins. Lightly nutty with some herbal notes. Warming alcohol with a good sparkle. gunnfryd (2634), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 14, 2008 Bottle @ Maria tasting. Copper colour with a beige head. Aroma is alcohol, fruit, caramel, dried fruits. Flavour is alcohol, fruit, dried fruits, caramel, oxidation, malt. Full body . Very nice beer. yngwie (3311), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 12, 2008 Bottle, thx to fonefan. (BB-date 060615) A clear, copper beer with a nice, beige head. Some oxidation in the aroma, but not more than that it felt nice. Else there’s dried fruits, caramel, some alcohol and sherry. Dried fruits, some roasted malt and a little pleasant oxidation in the flavor. Caramel-sweet finish with some alcohol. Full-bodied and warming. Even though it was and old beer, it was nice, but I guess you have to appreciate a little oxidation to enjoy it that much past BB-date. (080412) Miver (267), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2008 0.33 L. bottle. Poured dark brown in color with a medium sized tan head with left a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma initially hits with strong alcohol and a dark fruit and caramel sweetness. Taste of dark fruits, toffee, caramel, figs, raisons and some mild spices. The alcohol detected in the nose was completely hidden in the taste. Very nice body and its quite enjoyable.
