On gravity at the Portcullis, Bristol 10/12/09. Dark brown with next to no head. Very chocolatey in aroma and flavour, with a slight, bitter finish. Drinkable if not memorable.

Carlisle BF. Quite thin, but it is a weak ale anyhow. Hint of roast malt with a slight taste of cold coffee. Good session strength dark ale.

Cask (Ealing BF2008)
Classic dark mild appearance. Chocolatey aroma. Also a chocolatey taste, but also some tangy hops. Anna says there’s some veg. Roasty. Quite watery, but not thin. Solid mild.

Cask in the brewpub. Aroma is full on roasty but chocolate dominates, slight grassy hop character. Taste is similar full bodied and chcolatly for the % outstanding, grassy finishes slightly annoys me though.

Cask, Alloa BF 07. Roasted malty tones, lightly scented and inoffensive. Mouth comes with some burnt tones and loads of sweetness. Malty, but watery, very gulpable.

Cask Halfway house Edinburgh ... Solid black ... little soft coffee malt nose ... soft cherry sweet malts ... lots of sweet roast malts ... a good solid mild ... Cracking beer at 3% Shame we dont see more of this or its kind. Id go out of my way for another of these.
