33 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. Dark ruby colour with a nice head. A very speciel aroma of sweet caramel with some spice. Very sweet flavour of malt and spice. Ends up with a dry finish.

Bottle. Slightly hazy ruby beer with thickish beige head. Tastes like Terry’s chocolate orange. Really nice choc and orange peel with acidic/citruic hop finish. Tad one dimensional but nice even still

4 June 2005 - (HOP 2005) - Light malt and hop aroma. Cloudy red-brown colour, lowish head and ok lacing. Sweet malt and hop flavour. Pleasant nicely balanced hop malt finish, light tang and lingering malt taste.

Beer #5 at Croydon Draught Belgian Beer Festival. Attractive reddish brown colour. Toffee and candi sugar aroma. Quite dry for a dubbel, which is fine by me as I often find them a touch cloying. We all thought this it was not as sweet as the norm - perhaps on draught it’s slightly different from the bottle. Lots of dried berry fruit, some biscuity malt and a touch of dark chocolate. Nice.

draught@The Belgian draught Beer Festival, Croydon, London. Dubbels can often be a little too sweet for me, but this was quite restrained in the sweetness department. Some toffee/caramel, with some light dark fruit. Very nice balance. yes there is a little sweetness, but it finishes drier than you’d expect, which makes it a little more more-ish.

Ruby with a tan head. Mild caramel and fruit cake aroma. Sweet dry fruits, yet in no way cloying. Nice!

Very easy to drink double. Not very good, not bad. Because of the hot summer and no pilsener around a had too drink this one. No ideal circumstances!
