For this sweet flavoured and dark brown beer,we use aromatic malt (for the dark colour). For abbey beer, Kapittel Pater has rather low abv (6%). The hop we use is Poperingse hop which has only a light bitter taste.

Bottle

Dark caramel pour with a nice light-tan head. The aroma is sweet, yeasty, laced with lots of orange peel and candied fruit; the flavor is raisin and a bit a caramel, hints of candied orange and just the right subtle bitter twist at the finish to round out the sweet main body of the flavor . This is really a very pleasant sweet belgian ale, coming in at a low - practically refreshing - 6% abv.

Worth drinking from time to time!

Cambrinus, Bruges, New Year’s Eve. Deep mahogany pour with dirty tan suds. Sweetly malty aroma with a hint of raisiny fruit. Creamily smooth and malt loafy with notes of raisins and liquorice. A bit like a much fuller bodied version of Pelforth Brune, with an added balancing bitterness in the finish. A creamily malty, bittersweet little teaser.

Pours a dark reddish brown. Mostly clear. Decent off-white head but shrinks down to just a film. Some almond and caramel aroma. Flavor is disappointingly watery and the mouthfeel is thin and fizzy. Boo.

Nutty/Bitter aroma, a nice golden rouge colour with a small head, an "Irony" taste with a fruity aftertaste, quite inoffensive and quite enjoyable

Amber, nice creamy offwhite head. Malty, somewhat fruity aroma with some hops. Fruity, malty flavor, some alcohol. Malty finish and some alcohol showing here as well...
