Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
For this sweet flavoured and dark brown beer,we use aromatic malt (for the dark colour). For abbey beer, Kapittel Pater has rather low abv (6%). The hop we use is Poperingse hop which has only a light bitter taste.

nice copper brown appearance with heavily visible carbonation and nice white head. aroma is of sweet lemon candy, think they’re called lemonheads. flavor is nicely balanced with malt, citrus, and spice. finish with some hops, may have been better with a little more alcohol bite.

2003 - Brown clear body, red shine, huge fluffy beige head, some laces; Not all that big a nose, lacks depth and complexity, a little metallic, brown sugar, not fat but on the other hand a bit fresh; Medium sharp carbonation, soft texture, balanced; Into long a bit malty sharp finish that also has a very little bitter hop together with some brown sugar.

Bottle. Off-white high and lasting head. Hazy ruby body. First impression of aroma is spicy roasted malt, later it seems fruity. It is rather sweet with a flavor of berries and sugar.

Poured a deep reddish copper with a thin beige head and moderate lacing. Aroma has a very herbal grassy hop character followed by some fruitiness most likely of dark candy sugar. Flavor is very hop forward, a gentle maltiness is consumed by the same herbal hop character that dominated the aroma. It finishes into a considerable amount of hop bitterness for a belgian. The bitterness seems to be slightly on the harsh side. Mouthfeel is also kind of watery.

Bottle. Dark brown cloudy body with ruby glints and a lasting beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with fruity (plum, grape) notes. Texture is mild. Taste is well-balanced and complex. Carries fruity, flowery and yeasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable.

Draught. Dark amber colour, big off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with hoppy hints. Flavour is weirdly mixed sweet- and sourness and some plum. Sticky palate, which becomes drier in the finish.

330 ml bottle. Dark bownish color. Medium head that disapeared fast. Belgian abbey’s aroma. The smell of candy sugar. Malty taste, molasses. Great dry finish.

Dark brown body with minimal head. Fruity accents in the aroma, somewhat citrus in nature. Nice mollasses body , malts with some hops, very little in the way of fruits here however. Cool ending, no alcohol burn.
