Bottle: Cloudy, deep amber coloured, stable off-white foamy layer; complex nose: dark malt, roasted malt, caramel, fruity (dark berries) and a bit (port-)vinous; full bodied, robust sweet (-malty & -fruity) flavour with a light bitterness; sweet-malty-fruity finish with an idea of bitterness next door. A sweet, but not cloying, warming brew, quite easily drinkable...................

Enjoyed from the sampler pack. Best of the four offerings. Beautiful color. Medium bodied with subtle roastiness. Seems slightly watery, however, still has a nice complexity. Very nice.

Bottle picked up in Antwerp Oct’ 06 shared with dad 25-11-06. Dark amber in colour with a slight haze, aroma was a little malty and sweet. Taste was also malty but quite fruity and toffeeish as well overall I was a little bit dissapointed.

Bottle from variety pack at Pat’s. Pours hazy brown (ruby coppery through direct light) with a 3-finger khaki head. Aroma of figgy fruit, peaty earthy maly, some spice, funk, and caberney notes. Wonderful complex aroma. The taste is tart, you might even say a bit sour and metallic, with an earthy caramel malt front palate hit, leading to some nuts, figgy fruit, red grapes, slight rauchy salami, mango, brown sugar, and black pepper. Well balanced, with well hidden alcohol, this one is very good. This beer would be a great addition to a blind tasting, because it throws flavors and aromas out there that are very unique, indeed.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of jerc. Pours a hazy amber with a small diminishing off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, brown sugar, a little roasty and some spices. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, brown sugar, fruit and alcohol. Light bodied. Not bad, I found it just O.K.

Robe brune foncée surmontée d’une mousse beige timide. Arômes de malt caramélisé. Saveurs de caramel et de malt torréfié.
