| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Bottle from variety pack at Pat’s. Pours hazy brown (ruby coppery through direct light) with a 3-finger khaki head. Aroma of figgy fruit, peaty earthy maly, some spice, funk, and caberney notes. Wonderful complex aroma. The taste is tart, you might even say a bit sour and metallic, with an earthy caramel malt front palate hit, leading to some nuts, figgy fruit, red grapes, slight rauchy salami, mango, brown sugar, and black pepper. Well balanced, with well hidden alcohol, this one is very good. This beer would be a great addition to a blind tasting, because it throws flavors and aromas out there that are very unique, indeed. blankboy (3212), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
