Aug 18, 2006 Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours orange/brown with a large light tan head that lasts until the finish. Aroma of slight roasted malts, citrus, fruit, caramel, and spices. The flavor is smooth, caramel, fruit, and citrus. Good malty body, good brew.

Aug 14, 2006 Dark amber colored, little beige head. Nice aroma with roastiness, spices, licorice and mild alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Alcohol in flavor is strong and dominating, crispy palated body suits here fine. Flavor has also roastiness and spices, aftertaste is warm with alcohol, spices and dryness.

Aug 9, 2006 330 ml bottle. Orange-brown beer thick yellow-tan head. Very creamy appearance with thick persistent lacing. Aroma is of fruity malts, bready notes with a touch of rye, strong yeasty notes as well. Light plumminess with some white grape sweetness. Body is a bit thin for something so big. Flavour is sweet, brown sugar, caramel, a bit of woodiness, but also some strong metallic flavour as well. Meh.

Jul 14, 2006 33cL bottle cellared 2 years after purchasing in Gent. Brown to dark brown color with good, lacy head. The aroma is malty with hints of toffee. The flavor is very malty with plenty of yeasty goodness and extremely carbonated. Nice complexity. Good beer.

Jul 2, 2006 Colour of dark caramel with a heavy soft mocha cream head. Layered aroma of roast grain, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Flavours apple and not to sweet caramel. Soft mouth feel with a warm spice finish. There is some alcohol present but no burn or anything to indicate a 9%.

Jun 28, 2006 Dark burgundy body, creamy tannish head, softly diminishes...nice lookin’...
Aroma is beautifully complex, spices, dark fruits, raisins and plums, ...a brandy-ish feel. Rich, heady stuff. Me likey.
Flush feel in the mouth, big carbonation, but balanced by abundant flavor. Brisk, ticklish, and tasty. Licorice and grapes, melded melodically. A bit candyish, some toffee here, a touch of nuts, a sliver of oak.
Doesn’t blow me away, but aquits itself nicely. Don’t feel the 9% yet, but I’ve said that before and rued the remark.
A mellow brew, nice to relax with...ah...just my style.
