Flavor is loggy, vinuous, stewy, venison, sweet & coriander are, unusually for this style of beer nowadays, in glorious balance. Reminds me a bit of trois pistoles and gives that a run for its money. Very nice, quite flavorfull and drinkable simultaneously, as my favorite beers are. Diogène (563), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Pours an amber blonde colour wtih a thin head that disapear quickly. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of cookies with caramel and plums. Taste is pretty metallic with hints of dark fruits, alcohol and honey, with a bitter aftertaste. The flavor does not live up to the hype after smelling these appealing aromas. Aroma is strong of roasted malts, some yeast and trace fruitiness. Flavor is also full of the roasted maltiness, with some fruit and yeast thrown in. Good mouthfeel. Pretty balanced. Easy drinking considering the 9% abv. Magicdave6 (5546), London, Greater London, England

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 21, 2006 Poured a reddish copper with a thin off white head and poor lacing. Aromas are faint but include grassy hops, raisins, cherries, and brown sugar. Flavors are also subtle and mimic the aromas with the exception of even more subtle fruit flavors. A slight roasted flavor is also present. A considerable hop bitterness leaves a slightly astringent finish. Also bit watery. For a belgian of this gravity I was expecting a lot more PorterPounder (3144), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
