| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 16, 2006 Dark red-brown with a large beige head. Sweet yeasty aroma. Quite a lot in the taste: liquorice, dark fruits, caramel sweetness and a sharp, salty bitter finish. I can’t really say why it didn’t work for me. Perhaps beacause it’s a Monday. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 3, 2006 Thick doughy head adorns the murky russet body. Plentiful lacy tatters. Fruity (blueberries, currants, dried cherries, apricot preserves, molasses, resiney juniper), chocolate, musky, taffy, and rummy aromas. Smooth malt flavor boasts black licorice, tootsie rolls, caramel, persimmon, and a cornucopia of spices, herbs, and additional exotic fruits. Fantastic complexity! Palate is vaguely syrupy at first, then lightly tannic with tongue-numbing ethanol. Herbal, tangy, truffly, nutty, and brandy aftertaste; the only flaw is a distracting metallic edge. Nirvana! | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 3, 2006 33 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. Amber colour with a nice head. Aroma of yeast and spice. Sweet flavour of spice, dried fruit and notes of roasted malt. Starts up nice but have a unpleasant finish. SDalkoholic (1196), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Heavy amount od sediment seen in the dense looking ale. Thick foamy film that breaks down to nothing. Aroma is typical of the usual yeast and spice suspects. Carbonation has gone a bi flat but still remains under my attention. Flavor has faint notes of caramel and spicy yeast. Alcohol content is masked well, although, i still find this a boring ale. maeib (4752), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2005 Bottled. Courtesy of Harrisoni. A dark brown beer with a pleasant tan coloured head. The aroma is quite thin although a little sweet licquorice comes through. The taste is malty with raisin fruits, but also a little spicy and medicinal. Quite complex really but I’m not sure everything actually works. bu11zeye (5598), Frisco, Texas, USA
