| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2005 The sweatiness to the aroma is stragely appealing, when matched with a little peach and honey. The appearance is ho-hum, and a little light for a prior. Body is medium, with flavor elements of ginger and maple. Finish is soft and slick. Well masked 9%. lamas (718), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2004 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a hazy deep red with super-thick tan head. Aroma is of green apples, yeast and a little of alcohol. Taste is malty, sweet and finishes with a stale sugary alcohol taste. High ABV is very noticeable and is the predominant aftertaste. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2004 Updated: Dec 23, 2004Bright ruby body with abundant carbonation and a frothy beige head. Nice, strong malty nose with aromas of cherries, toffee, leather, ethanol and fusel alcohols, and some barnyard. Similar flavors plus a combination of substantial bitterness and plastic phenols that seems to be the "house" character of this brewery. That mix of properties works better in this style than in their smaller beers. The appeal grows with this one. rhapsouldize (174), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2004 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark hazy amber color with an ample, fluffy off-white head. Nice lacing...the appearance is definitely its best asset. Notes of citrus, malts, and wheat come out in the aroma. Tart, well-balanced flavor, but a bit watery and lacking. Overall, not very good, but not horrible. Gromit (461), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 16, 2004 Pours a brown with a nice fluffy head. Absolutely no lace, though.
Aroma is pleasantly sweet/malty. I have high hopes for this.
Flavor starts out really nice malt, darker fruits and some spices, but then I’m overwhelmed by the metalic taste that seems to be a given with this brewery. Bleh.
Palate is nice, other than the metalic. It’s foamy, well-carbonated, and creamy. Overall I really wanna like this, but can’t do as long as the metalic taste is going on.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Poured reddish brown with a medium frothy tan head. Malty aroma with hints of fruit. Taste is a little sour, reminding me of a flanders ale. Didn’t seem to fit with this one. Hints of chocolate and sour fruit. Decent but not too impressive. JPDIPSO (4912), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2004 Dark cherry-wood color with a tall, slightly rocky beige head. Nice rings of lace. Mild aromas of caramel, fresh cherries and light chocolate. Quite effervescent in feel. Rather brash and straightforward brew. Almonds, dark chocolate, and dark candi are there but do not seem to find harmony. Like a bad fruitcake (ok maybe not that bad), but the kind that falls apart and you eat the parts separately, and do not get the full amalgamation. So close.
