Sigmund (1961), Hafrsfjord, Norway Oct 2, 2008 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. Mahogany coloured beer with a nice beige head, no haziness. Malty aroma and flavour with notes of brown sugar, dried dark fruits and caramel, hints of spices. The aftertaste is spicy with a moderate hoppy bitterness. Not quite in the league of the trappists, but certainly a good beer. lithy (200), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 30, 2008 Reddish brown with a thin white head that almost completely disappears. Brown sugar, candied fruit aromas. Plums and raisins and nice carbonation. Sweet brown sugary body with more dark fruits and an alcohol nip at the end. mephisto (1125), Taiwan Sep 18, 2008 dark brown with thick tan head, it has a fruity body that exudes floral aroma with hint of caramel. rather complex flavor and finishes slightly cloying. fata2683 (178), APO, New York, USA Sep 15, 2008 bottle from a shop in Liege. Pours brown with shades of red and almost no head, looks awesome. Smells sweet and sour, slightly spicy. Taste wonderfully sweet and bitter coming to a nice clean sweet finish that lingers on the back of the tongue. A light alcohol burn comes into play as it warms but I think it only makes it better by bringing out some dark fuity character in the backround. Complex and delicious. Straling (29), Amstenrade, Netherlands Sep 14, 2008 Bottle 33cl.
Pours a murky golden colour with a nice head and leaves good lacing too.
Can make out lemon, banana and raisins from the smell.
Taste also gives that, but more powerfull.
Better than the Pater.
