Excellent Polish lager, surprisingly. Very robust sweet malt base witrh strong caramel and toffee notes...alongside some minor dried fruit/citrus juiciness/and (very minor) corn notes. Better than expected hop bite. Some unfortunate metallic aftertaste, but not overpowering. Good stuff that i would happily repeat!

Gold color. Straw aroma. Full bodied flavor of malt and hay. OK for what it is.

Deep gold, scarce small bead, small lasting white head.Nose is light pear/alcohol.Sweet foretaste,medium alcohol heat, medium hop finish I quite like this!!

pours an amber-copperish color with a tight small white head, the aroma is of sweet malts, caramel, taste is of mostly malt a little old and stagnet tasting, not bad i thought it would be worse.

Medium orange colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is walnuts, with carrots and some ginger bread. Interesting smelling brew. The taste is old caramel candy with some sweet potatoes. There is also some rich iced tea and a little bit of black pepper spice in the finish. The body is surprisingly thin for the mouthfeel. This is different.

I normally like central European strong lagers, but Hevelius is amiss. The half-liter bottle poured a golden orange without much head. Other reviewers had spices, caramel, and fruit. I got a highly hopped lager with heavy "alcohol" notes. This is a well made Steel Reserve, but not a well made beer.

500 ml brown bottle available from Armanetti’s , Mundelein, IL. 8.7% ABV. Bottle labeled as expired on October 16, 2005 but I enjoyed it on 10/25/05. Despite expiration, the beer was still great and I did not detect off flavors. Light sweet malt aroma with complex spice and toffee. Soft carbonation. Clear amber hued having diminishing white head with spare lacing. Medium-to-full bodied with creamy texture that starts with a sweet malty flavor with luscious spice, toffee, and some sharp hop bitterness, converts in the middle to a drier palette with less malt flavor, and finishes dry with moderate hop bitterness. A tasty complex beer that resembles a dry barley wine style ale.

Dark, golden-orange body, small but frothy head. Aroma is gentle and pleasant. THe flavor has a tiny bite to it, with a little bit of citursy hops. Tingly and tangy in the finish.
