Sep 3, 2007 Pours an amber golden and a modest white head with some coating. Earthy aroma of malted grain. Taste is semi-sweet malt, burnt caramel, some hop bitterness, and a characteristic "malt likka" alcohol taste and burn. Actually, not bad at all when compared with others (most) in this category. There’s even a fair amount of balance to it!

Sep 2, 2007 Darkish color with a heavier malt and a touch of sweetness. Reminded me of a Bavarian doppel even thous this is lagered. A bit drier than expected, alcohol shows through, but reasonably pleasant taste. Bit of unfortunately metallic aftertaste. Otherwise not bad. Not an award winner, but not bad.

Aug 28, 2007 From Famous Liquors in Lombard, IL. Amber gold clear body, medium head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet and some peppery hop too. Sweet grainy taste with mostly dry finish.

Aug 26, 2007 From 99 bottles in Washington--Pours a sharp copper body with a thick creamy head. Bready nose. Taste was warming and finish was dry. Big and bold and quite enjoyable though I don’t think I could drink this on a daily basis.

Aug 21, 2007 starts sweet with aromes of bread. mid brings taste of alcohol together with hops. the end ist hopsy but with malty background.

Aug 17, 2007 Expiration date of 24 Sep 07. Pours a handsome clear copper with a heavy head and lively carbonation. Alcohol level of 8.7% and I noticed that strong, alcohol aroma. A heavier mouth feel and a bit dry with a bitter aftertaste. LOTS of aftertaste. Not really my favorite style but definitely a bold brew.

Aug 5, 2007 This bottled brew from a bottle shop marked Best Before 040107E poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated light orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was caramel malt and mild vinous. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish with a lingering caramel aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt hops caramel and mildly vinous. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.
