Rustic woody nose with a buttery edge. Resiny rough flavor, woody, medicinal, buttery. Old fashioned in a way that doesn’t make me feel nostalgic at all. berkshirejohn (1826), Bracknell, Berkshire, England

Reddish chestnut with a thin cream head; rich, almost meaty aroma; rather thin and oily in the mouth; combination of nutty and purple fruit flavours with a touch of vanilla;gentl bitter finish with some burnt caramel; warming and slightly spicy. Complex and interesting, would be even better with more body. FatPhil (3480), Espoo, Finland

Deep mahogany, small head. Fruity sweet and treacly cake aroma. Sweet and malty in the mouth. A burnt finish, which is a bit woody and between smoky and ashy. Very pleasant well balanced mellow full-bodied brew. Utterly sessionable, and I’d enjoy every drop. Fin (3441), Merton, Oxfordshire, England

Toffee and caramel in mildly hopped and crispy aroma, cask-lemon tone also here. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is even roasted with this same chocolaty-toffee tone, bitterness comes in aftertaste with lemon. Good cask. TBone (6801), Pori, Finland
