Commercial Description:
Well, sure, the Cold War might be over, but you can?t be certain, can you? You’ve got brewers putting all sorts of crazy things into your beer; do you ever really know where they came from, or why they’re even there in the first place? You need a brew you can trust, and that?s why we make Purity of Essence. It’s an overstuffed blend of the best malts, fresh Noble hops, yeast, and water, brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. But you won’t find anything like this in the Old Country. Munich malt adds just a bit of color and malty firmness to balance the intense hoppy flavors and aromas that make this brew distinctly American. Vigilance!

Bottle from Kingdom Liquors. Poured a clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus, yeast and alcohol aroma. Medium bitter flavor with a medium acidic finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Worth having once.

Put this next to a "big" lager and see the difference. This has flavor and body. the aroma is not corn but earthy malt and citrus. It has a nice amber color and a big off white head. This is the lager that we loved 100 years ago, not the slop he big guys turn out now.

The aroma is definitely hoppy with grass, citrus, malt, and yeast. The appearance is hazy gold with a large foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a very bitter finish. The palate is what I expected for the style. Overall a really nice attempt at improving a lager but it’s too astringent to enjoy.

(bottle - 22 oz) Hazy orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is floral and rather malty with a nice sweet backbone. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy at the beginning with a smooth and sweet malt backbone. Finishes very flowery and hoppy with a lingering bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a foamy white head. nose is strong malt with a nice hop backround, quite grainy with a bit of sweetness. Palate is full with a crisp fizzyness. FLavor is heavy malt and grains with a nice hop note to balance, a nice grassyness as well.

Bottle… Pours mostly clear and yellow with a large, frothy, white head. Good retention. Biscuity, peppery aroma proffers light roastiness as well. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Crisp, (a bit) metallically bitter, refreshing flavor and finish.

Ultra-fresh bomber. Pours a hazy golden-amber hue with a steady head of smooth, off-white foam. Wet lacing mostly breaks apart, trace spots remaining behind to dry. The aroma is really quite nice, resembling a hoppy pils, big on doughy yeast, pale pilsner malt, and citrusy lemongrass. The balance on the nose is fantastic. Flavors are just as good, toasted white bread malts and peppery, doughy yeast accompanied by a biting, grassy hoppiness and hints of citrus rind. Medium bodied and lively on the tongue, with a semi-dry finish, the brew is both substantial and quaffable. Really good stuff. One of the better American lagers out there for sure.
