Commercial Description:
Well, sure, the Cold War might be over, but you can?t be certain, can you? You’ve got brewers putting all sorts of crazy things into your beer; do you ever really know where they came from, or why they’re even there in the first place? You need a brew you can trust, and that?s why we make Purity of Essence. It’s an overstuffed blend of the best malts, fresh Noble hops, yeast, and water, brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. But you won’t find anything like this in the Old Country. Munich malt adds just a bit of color and malty firmness to balance the intense hoppy flavors and aromas that make this brew distinctly American. Vigilance!

Not my cleanest pour, but this had huge chunks of yeast floating in a murky orange body. Aroma was sharply citrus, reminded me of lemon Palmolive dish-washing soap. Flavor was pretty crisp with a nice balance between the citrus and some maltiness. Meh.

Pours hazy orange. A firm malt backbone and strong lemon-bitter presence define this beer. Some other citrus and grassy notes, but mostly lemon with a good sweet/bitter balance. Unfortunately the bitter that pulls through in the end is not very pleasant.

This is what a lager should be. A gold/bronze color with a powerful thick head. The malty fruity smell is subtle as are the bitter grassy hops taste. I wish I could find a bar with this on tap because I could drink it all night.

Bottle thanks for another tic vic. Pours an orange body with a white head. Grainy dry lagered notes with a spruce character. Bitter dry hop character. Dry with a hint of fruit in the finish. Eh.

Thanks to Tony at Oldsmar Tap House for sharing this one. Pours yellow with a white head. Nose is light malt, spice, grass, barely noticeable lager, but mostly clean. Flavor is similar: light malt, hint of spice, maybe some sage, a touch of grass, and this light-medium bodied beer finishes clean. Interesting.

Pours orange with a huge rocky head. Nose is floral hops, some lemon zest, honey. Flavor is bitter flower petals, some sour citrus, soft caramel. This beer is under-rated. Awesome!

Sampled at vt brewfest 09. Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma was grassy and grainy with a touch of spiciness. Flavor follows the aroma and has a crisp and bitter finish.
