Commercial Description:
Well, sure, the Cold War might be over, but you can?t be certain, can you? You’ve got brewers putting all sorts of crazy things into your beer; do you ever really know where they came from, or why they’re even there in the first place? You need a brew you can trust, and that?s why we make Purity of Essence. It’s an overstuffed blend of the best malts, fresh Noble hops, yeast, and water, brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. But you won’t find anything like this in the Old Country. Munich malt adds just a bit of color and malty firmness to balance the intense hoppy flavors and aromas that make this brew distinctly American. Vigilance!

Bomber. Hazy deep amber with a frothy off-white head. Fruity and floral aroma, with honey, citrus, apple, pear, some white grape and a bit of caramel. Light caramel and honeyed cereal flavors, with a nice fruity/citrusy presence. Lemon/grapefruit hoppy finish. Medium to full body. Nicey balanced and quite enjoyable. A pleasant surprise.

(Bottle). Aroma is hoppy and citrus, along with some yeasty malt. Very hazy orange amber in color, with a creamy off-white head that leaves quite pretty lacing. Flavor is very hoppy and citrus, but it’s also supported by lager breadiness and malt. Very pleasant hoppy finish. Overall, a bit of a hybrid brew. Different and excellent.

I had this beer maybe a couple weeks ago. I don’t remember too much about the flavor. I do remember I didn’t think it was anything special. It didn’t taste as fresh and clean as their XPA, which I like.

A very hazy copper pour, with a soapy, lasting head - interesting and complex aroma of grapefruit, bread, brown sugar, floral notes, hay, a lot of earthy, musty character - the fact that they left this unfiltered has given the beer a lot of earthy complexities in the flavor - smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with a medium body - strong, leafy, herbal hops - a little bit of tartness - bready malts, spices, a bit of fruity character, notes of rye, toasted grains, even hints of smoke at times - grapefruit pulp and a touch of citric acidity arrive late - an interesting and tasty beer - this is no premium lager, though - it is definitely a kellerbier. (Note to the brewer, though: quit it with the pretentious names for your beers)

Draught at TDR Ex.: Aroma of fruit, floral hops, and light malts. If you read the 4 existing reviews, people thought there was a wide variety in the aroma. Interesting. Poured copper with a hint of amber in color and a small white head that disappeared instantly. Hazy. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor of yeast, spices, bubblegum, and a hint of chocolate malts. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Yeasty, fruity, lightly malty, dry finish. An ok lager.

[Draft @ The Draft] Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, toasted dough, citrus fruits, toffee, and light pine. Taste was dry, yeasty, citrus fruits, toffee, grapefruit, and light metal, and finishing with a bit of alcohol.
