Commercial Description:
Cask; Special - August 2006.
This classic ale is full bodied, rich in malt and fruit and balanced by a satisfyingly hoppy bitter finish.

Cask, gravity at The Rock of Gibraltar Beer Festival, Enslow, Oxon, 01-09-07 Amber with no head, served a bit too warm in my opinion, beers were served inside the pub on racks with no effort to keep cool. A classic sweet malty bitter, fruity and with a drying hoppy finish, nothing complicated but nothing special either.

Cask at local club. Light brown. This was quite sweet malty with a bitter finish, did not seem to have much flavour, reminds of Greene King IPA but with a harsh bitter finish, not very pleasant. Not a typical bitter for this area.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Amber with white head. Thin light bittersweet beer, some malt with a darkerroasted flavour, perhaps biscuity in character and some hop in the finish which manages to last. Satisfactory I suppose.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Grassy hop aroma. Malt and hop taste. A little sweetness and some sourness. Low bitterness. Quite a dreary beer, despite its sniggering name.

Pint on cask. Amber coloured body, completely without any foam. malty aroma. Malty-sweet flavour. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Rather thin mouthfeel (The Bell, Norwich 24.09.2006).
