Sweet molasses aroma with hints of caramel, milk and chocolate. Mostly opaque body with some dark red hues when held to the light at the bottom of the glass. Not bad. Can’t tell what this tastes like. Very nice. Nice buttery caramel at finish. A very nice beer. Ughsmash (4074), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Bottled. Poured a murky, deep brown with a tall, thick, long-lasting deep beige head. Nose was of mild chocolate, a bit of toffee, coffee, and molasses. Flavor was quite similar, and managed to be grainy and sticky toward the back-end. Smooth across the middle of the palate... medium-bodied. Finish found mocha and tannins. Interesting and enjoyable stout! 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2006 (22 oz. bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=1 target=blank>beeryum, thanks Dave!) Dark brown with a thick khaki head. Aroma is coffee, some chocolate, touch of vanilla. Some sloppy lacing. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but somewhat watery. Flavor is mostly coffee and some chocolate, but on the weak side and not much for roastiness. I can live with that, but there is also a grassiness and a sort of sourishness/objectionableness in finish that kind of wrecked it. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark black with light brown heady, fizzy like a cola. Very faint aroma of chocolate malts and cocoa. Evenly blended flavors of dark roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Bitter, roasty, and fizzy finish. This one has a nasty aspirin finish if served too cold. Keep this one at about 55 degrees. Overall, not bad, but nothing special either. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2006 Pours dark brown with a tan fluffy head. Smells roasty with some grass and hay qualities and peppery elements. Tastes semi sweet with mocha, and strong malty notes. Finishes chocolatey. TheBeerOrg (1586), Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Pours near black with deep ruby hues and a fully receding light brown head.
Aroma of roast malt, cocoa, coffee, and other things of a toasty nature. Taste is a nice bundle of toasted and roasted malts. Notes of chocolate, dark rye bread, and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation. Enjoyable stout, but not good enough to be amazing. Delirium (502), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Updated: Apr 20, 2006Bottle. Pours black with a tan head that dissipates. Roasty malt aroma with hints of woody hops. Roasty malt flavor, also with hints of woody hops. Not really much chocolate flavor, contrary to expectations, although cocoa is detectable. Opens up a bit as I drink it, with an ever so slight hint of sweetness. Not an *exciting* beer per se, but exceedingly well balanced and expertly crafted.
