| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Pours deep brown with brown edges and tan head. The aroma is mildly roasty to mildly burnt to coffee with a sense of oxidation and earthiness. I also get a bit of vague sweetness in the background. The taste seems smooth and creamy to start bringing in some roast and nearly burnt malts. Into the finish a modest drying sensation picks up due to some roasty malt astringency. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 22, 2009 Thin head of dark brown bubbles. Reduces pretty fast. Rich chocolaty aroma with some roasted malts and light coffee. Color is essentially black. Milk chocolate, more coffee, some prunes and sweet roasted malts. Finishes rich and malty. A decent stout but not really special in any way. tarheels86 (761), Washington DC, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2009 330 mL. Dark brown pour- not pitch black but no light penetration. Very thin tan head that quickly disappears. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee grinds, roasted malt. Taste is a little weak as is the alcohol content. Mouthfeel is more watery and acidic than creamy and full. This is less intense I would argue than some porters. Not bad but nothing exciting. barleynhops (82), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Bottle: Pours a dark chocolate in color with a light tan head. Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, a mild hint of hops. Tastes of little chocolate, alot of coffee, with a moderate hop bitterness in the finish. Not too bad. Pastor (509), Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Thanks to brentk56 for sending this want along in his black booty package 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter produced a finger worth of tan head that turned into some nice lace. The body was a true stout black in color, no light coming thru at all
Aromas of roasted malts, and coffee, as well as a light chocolate smell are detected in my nose. The flavors follow the nose it is predominantly roasted malts and the associated flavors it brings. A nice feel in the mouth medium to thick not to much carbonation on the tongue
A good stout nice to drink and I think I could easily drink a few of these in a sitting.
Good work Highland

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2009 Nicely done. Pours with a nice dark ecru head, aroma of chocolate and other dark malts. Not too roasty - limited acidity. A little milky. Body develops a watery hole at one point during the finish, but nothing too objectionable. Easy drinking. blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Bottle (12oz) courtesy of MrFacto. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a small diminishing tan head. Nice aroma, creamy and roasty along with coffee and light green hops. Flavour starts with coffee followed by roasted malt, dark chocolate and light green hops -- well done and quite flavourful. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Great stuff, I really enjoyed it.
