Small beige head. Dark red barely translucent body. Roasty dusty chocolate aroma with licorice notes. Dry roasty wooden dusty taste with floral metal notes. Mid-to-thin body. Mild, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish earthy roasty aftertaste with burnt wooden notes. Quite nice, but not great. (0.25l cask, Cloisters, Edinburgh.)

Cask-conditioned at the Portcullis, Bristol, 04/10/09. Near black in colour with a slight tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee beans and a touch of fruit. Similar flavours, with some roastiness in the finish. Good.

Dark brown body with caramel aroma, medium-thick creamy amber-gold head, slightly bitter palate, light finish. Drinkable.

Gravicask, taster from the Scottish Bar at GBBF 09. Near-black body, ring of bubbles at the top. Weak dark malty aroma, modestly roasted. Liquorice malts in flavour followed by coffee bitterness. Alright, but feels rather watered and thin in the mouth (Earls Court, London 06.08.2009).

Cask/gravity at GBBF2009. Red-black with small coarse head. Port, raisins and coffee on the nose, dry malty body with roasty mocha turns sweetish before a dry hoppy finish.

Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grass and a hint of sulphur. Dryish light roasted malt flavour with grassy hops.
