Commercial Description:
A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

The aroma has rootbeer, caramel, malt, and a hint of hops. The appearance is amber with a sweet flavor that matches the aroma. The palate is smooth. The finish is slightly bitter and cardboard like. Overall good but with imperfections.

This smells really good. It looks good, but it tastes great. The palate is just about right. I like this beer a lot. Fine quality ale. Downside: somewhat of a bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Salsa in Asheville. Mild malty aroma, light caramel with some spicy character and a bit of floral hops. Deep copper amber clear with thin off-white head. Medium watery body with medium-heavy carbonation. Starts dry with a bit of brown sugar and dry nutty sweetness. Light spicy character but really a normal amber ale, with dry bitter finsh and dry after.

bottle, from Raleigh Wholefoods. Good aroma, Sweet. Fig/date, Nutty, Meaty, minor citrus, orange. Caramel. Brownish orange color, Small head, minor lace. Bittersweet flavor, Like aroma, grainy, nutty. little citrus bite about it. Lite body, creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish with a bitter streak about it. Always like this beer. I can find this in some places that somewhat try to have a beer selection. Aroma has some nice play as it goes from cold to warm.

Copper body, tan head, lacing. Malt aroma with a nice hops hit. Smells good and fresh( I do live two hours from the brewery). Nice palate. No off aftertaste. Nice and even good beer.

Now this is a nice example of an amber ale. Concentrated flavors of malt and hops are evenly balanced with caramel malt winning at the end, as it should. Leaves a slight hop aftertaste. Pours a nice tan head that dwindles down the first or second gulp. Nice lacing. I’ll keep some of this around the house at all times. Glad to see it in Nashville. First experience with HGA was in Chapel Hill, NC on tap at Brixx. Frugal MacDougal Beer Store in Nashville carries this in bottles.

Bottle from Whole Foods Raleigh. Pours strawberry red with a medium head. Bitter malt aroma. Taste is slightly tart and slightly hoppy. Very drinkable and very pleasant.

12 ounce bottle- poured out a beautiful dark tea color with a moderate wheat head. The aroma was dominated by malt. Taste was excellent, caramel and malt with a nice hop bite at the end. Sweet, but not in a bad way. Palate was smooth, just short of creamy. Definitely a keeper.
