Along with Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter, one of the beers that makes me proud to be from NC. Smells like it will be sweet, but malty and generously hoppy as well. Very easy to drink. If I’m in for a binge session, this is the one I’ll have around for the last 3 beers of the night.... adrian910ss (1436), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of tangy citrus, caramel and malt. Taste is tangy with notes of citrus, and malty caramel. Not bad. skatam1 (1), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 21, 2008 This is quite possibly the best Scottish Style Ale I have ever had.

I could not beleive the perfect blend of malt and hops. Fantastic I will definitely be drinking many more of these. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2008 On draft at the brewery. Highland’s flagship I guess... malt flavors mostly, with some cascade thrown in. Considering this is the basic ale from the largest microbrewery (if it can still be called that) in Asheville, not a bad standard to have on hand. Most anyone could enjoy this beer. Also had a sample of the cask Gaelic they had at the brewery they were experimenting with- it was significantly better in all categories... it would have rated a 4.2 Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Brown sugar and citrusy hop aroma. Malty and also enough hop flavor and bitterness to keep things interesting. Slightly astringent finish keeps this from getting a higher flavor rating for me. Nice medium mouthfeel. Very nice, well done amber ale. Thx Santa! Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2008 A nice amber pour with medium off white head. The nose citrus, hops, followed by sweet malt. The flavor is wel balanced and quite refreshing. Sammy (4068), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

It’s in the aroma, and the aroma gives off a booziness far behind its ranking. Quite malty and medium plus mouthfeel, with hop bitterness rounding off the finish.Reddish brown colour with white foam covering.
