| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Purchased a 6 pack of this after seeing it widely served at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Greensboro, NC. It poured a clear amber with a tiny head (very little lace was left as I drank this). Nose was toasty with some sweet caramel and maybe a hint of coffee. The taste began with a bit of citrusy sweetness. Out of that developed some caramel with slightly sour tones and hop spiciness. The middle and finish were toasty with a warm coffee flavor and faint chocolate notes. The aftertaste was moderately long: dry with the same notes of the finish, but muted, and was accompanied by a dull tingling. Mouthfeel was medium, slightly creamy, tingly. You know, on paper, this sounds like a great beer, but there’s just something about it that I don’t like. I’m not sure what it is. Sort of a 2 + 2 = 3 moment, if you follow me. Yeah, I’d rather have something else. keepersj12 (811), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 6, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pour is a deep amber with a nice head of thin white lace that clings to the pint glass. Aroma indicates that a decent amount of hops lay within, but that there is a significant caramel maltiness keeping the hops in check. The initial flavor is all malty sweetness with the hops arriving late in the finish to cleans the palate and balance out the beer. A very well done amber ale. Easy drinking and well balanced. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Malty, sugary aroma with a hint of lemon. A nice rich, malty flavor that doesn’t overpower the palate. Some caramel and a bit of maple syrup. An easy-drinking beer with some personality and a good option when there aren’t a ton of options, though not one I’ll rush to buy again. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma and flavor is mild malts, hops, and spice. A slightly dry and bitter finish. Pretty good. kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA
