Commercial Description:
A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

Pours a dark translucent golden-brown with an average head. Aroma is hoppy with nutty and lemon undertones, very inviting. Flavor is strongly hoppy with a nutty hint, and the bitterness is in the background. Smooth finish is tingly and has a nip of citrus.

Draft; amber in color with not much head. Aroma was of sweet malt, spice and honey. Flavor was about the same; medium bodied. Flavor especially of toasted malt and some citrusy fruit.

Bottle courtesy of OldGrowth. Pretty shade of amber. Some rust mixed in. Small tan head. Nose is hoppy with light spicy hops and some piney hops. Light caramel and soft toasty malts round it out. Taste is spicy hops, toasted malts, light bready flavors, and mild citrus peel. Lighter, almost faded caramel in the background. Body is medium with soft carbonation. Lingering bitterness throughout. There’s an almost seltzer water type taste and feel towards the end that really detracts from this. Toasted malts, muted caramel (the caramel has all but disappeared by the finish), and light spicy hops.

Bottle. Deep amber brown in color. Limited, ringed head. Honey, sweet, sugary. Similar in taste but somewhat weak and empty finish. Flavorful but incomplete. Don’t stop at 2 notes.

Clear cherry brown with a tan head. Lightly sour currants and brown sugar. Taste is tangy apricots and golden raisins but kind of muddy. Lemon peel finish with sourdough. Little watery.

Draft at the Mellow Mushroom, Charleston. Came to me a medium amber with an average head. Not much of an aroma but there’s a hearty malt base with a light metallic hop tinge to it and maybe a hint of citrus, but pretty subdued. (#2814, 4/22/2007)

Nice pour from tap. Good head and some lacing. Taste left me wanting a bit. Not quite enough punch for my tastes but certainly drinkable.
