| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 31, 2006 the head was thin and oily, quickly disappearing. the bottle yielded a beer that was deep opaque amber in color. i find it lacking in hops. the only aroma i picked out was a grassy, earthy one. not quite as complex as advertised. it’s a very malty brew. mediocre at best jcr (1179), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Light copper body below short white head that quickly disappears. Nose is full of malts, grass, caramel, nuts. Strong malt signature in the taste as well. Light on the hops. Thin body with watery texture with moderate carbonation. Clean finish. Average. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Updated: Feb 16, 2007Poured a dark brown brew. Had a thick tan head. The aroma was sweet, nutty, and had hints of caramel. Tasted hoppy, malty, had hints of caramel, and nutty. Well balanced brew. The finish was smooth and it had a nice palate. I think this is actually very underated. nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Amber pour with a off white head. Aroma is malt and burnt caramel and some light tinges of hops. The flavor is mostly the caramel malt with some hops to crisp up the flavor and finish. Over the tounge goes from malty to watery...kinda back and forth...the finsih is sort of crisp and clean. Not bad even though it feels quite uneven at times. Bajahobo (30), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2006 Bottle. Amber, slightly hazy body protected by a thin-medium white head. Dry, floral hops almost completely dominate the aroma. Feathery, thick texture. Nice, unexpected bitterness with a pleasant malt ending. I especially like how creamy the body is, but this beer isn’t especially complex. It is however, very drinkable. Another fine Highland product. Wild4mild (37), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2006 Bottle. Pours a deep amber with an almost non existant off white head. Very malty nose with a faint trace of hops. Taste is predominately malty with some light hop bitterness. Seems more like a mediocre Oktoberfest Kind of boring for an Amber Ale. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2006 12oz, no date from NachlamSie. Pours a clear orangish red with a one finger fading light beige head. Aroma of some toasty malts and light citrus hops up front, also some light grainy malts and a bit of peat. Flavor is typical of an amber, toasty malts with some mild acidity and citric hops. Biscuity finish. Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I really think that ambers may be the most boring style of beer--with the exception of pale lagers. Premium lagers, such as Bob’s 47, rock this--and most--ambers out of the water.
