Pours a clear orangish red with a one finger fading light beige head. Aroma of some toasty malts and light citrus hops up front, also some light grainy malts and a bit of peat. Flavor is typical of an amber, toasty malts with some mild acidity and citric hops. Biscuity finish. Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I really think that ambers may be the most boring style of beer--with the exception of pale lagers. Premium lagers, such as Bob’s 47, rock this--and most--ambers out of the water. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2006 Pours smooth at high elevations. The hops are usually fairly dominant, but that is never a problem. Another great beer from a great brewery. Firemoose15 (542), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA

Flavor was okay just nothing popping out, malts and hops not real complex. Palate is thin and it’s got a bitter dank finish. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 17, 2006 On tap at Andrew’s wedding. Slightly malty, slightly sweet. Nice well balanced and medium bodied beer. This does well as far as ambers go. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2006 From notes 4/1/03:
For a "pale ale / bitter" connotation the beer itself may surprise you. This is a malty, hoppy wonder that stretches the boundaries of the beer style. This is a generously malty creation with a steadily hopped character as well. The aroma is sweet malt with citrusy hops in the background. The color is a ruby amber that glistens in the light. The head is short-lived however, but the thin film that remains laces nicely all the way down. Tasting this beer releases the malt backbone in a rush, while the fruity citrus hops scurry in to balance it out.
