Commercial Description:
A deep amber colored American ale, featuring a rich malty body. Cascade and Willamette hops add a complex hop flavor and aroma. This ale is exceptionally balanced between malty sweetness and delicate hop bitterness.

Bottle. Copper color with loose, slightly fizzy head. Earthy, almost powdery feel. Sweet and simple, with caramel and smoky flavors. Considerable dry bitterness at the finish. Gets very whisky-like/smoky as it warms up.

I’ve had this numerous times over the years, but somehow I’m just now getting around to rating it. Pours orange red with beige head. The aroma is toast, grain, and flowery hops. The flavor is quite malty, with an amble dose of sticky bittering hops. The finish is dry, and the body is smooth. I can drink this stuff anytime, anywhere.

a copper color to it. Im not sure that this one was fresh as it had a huge murky stale vibe going on in both the body and aroma. It still wasnt bad, just not the 3.9 i usually get from my nc boys.

Somewhat vegetable, seaweed and western hops aroma. Orange. Absolutely orange. Dry, starchy, well-brewed hops. Medium/medium-heavy bittering. Food pairing recommendations are chili and pork rinds. <Snicker> Medium body. Quick chalky finish. I’ve been looking forward to sampling this beer for quite a while, and I wasn’t disappointed. A finely balanced, but sufficiently hairy-chested brew.

12-oz. bottle. Pours clear mahagony, ruby with a small tan frothy head that mostly diminishes, lined lacing. Fragrant floral hop and caramel malt aroma, medium roasted, citrus and pine nose. Medium acidic floral pine hop and malt flavor, oily and metallic finish. Medium and thin body, oily palate.

This is a nicely made irish ale. Pours a brilliant red with a fluffy head. Sour apple aroma with some citric bitterness. Sweet caramel flavor, some melons and lemons and cherries. Dry, as an Irish ale should be. Very true to style and worth the sample. Thanks Blackie.

Bottle. Poured a darker amber color with a small off white head that fully disappeared. Mainly a malty aroma (caramel and light hints of milk chocolate) mixed with light hops. The flavor had an even mix of hops and malts with flowers and caramel mainly standing out. Starts sweet but ends with a light bitterness. Medium body and lively carbonation.

If I’m not mistaken, this is Highlands most popular ale despite this, it’s not their best. But then again, it is still a Highland and one of the better domestic ales you’ll ever find.
