If I’m not mistaken, this is Highlands most popular ale despite this, it’s not their best. But then again, it is still a Highland and one of the better domestic ales you’ll ever find.

Not the best of Highland, but damn good nonetheless. The hops and malt are very well blended. Very drinkable.

Amber color. Not much of a smell. Caramel slightly citrus. Had this at a tasting in Orlando 11/27/05.

again on draft at flying saucer. typical look for an amber. little to no evidence of nose. medium malt flavors of caramel and toast. in the middle about this one. better then i anticipated after their porter.

(12 oz bottles: Obtained in trades with suttree and goldtwins, thanks Phil and Larry!) The first bottle was sour and infected, so I’m glad I got this beer in two different trades. This bottle is healthy, so it’s all systems go. Mmm, this is a very malty amber, just the way I like ’em. Rich sweet caramel, toast, moderate roast, and very earthy from start to finish. Not much in the way of hops flavor, but there is a moderate bitterness to offer a small counterpoint to the solid maltiness. Earthy and caramely nose underscores these characteristics in the flavor. Medium-full bodied, round and coating on the palate, with a long, almost sticky finish. Deep amber colored body is topped by a small, but fairly persistent head that slowly settles to a wide ring. No lacing. Great beer, very flavorful and enjoyable, probably the best of the Highland beers I’ve tried so far.

A dark amber to brown appearance with a light head. The aroma consists of grapes, caramel, and cherries. The flavor is rather tame with some bready notes present. Sour apples and grapes are mainly what I taste. Not much of a hop bite to it at all. The palate is somewhat thin but thats to be expected of this style I guess. Overall this was pretty average, Highland makes much better.

Not much going on here. Pours a nice rich golden amber with a lasting head but the aroma and flavor seem to be very subdued. Quite watery with a metallic mouthfeel.

Bottle acquired in trade with Johnathan3584 (thanks!) Poured a dark amber color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and oranges. Tastes of the same. A little on the earthy side as well. Thinner body.
