Commercial Description:
Released Sept 21, 2008 (the day after brewgrass). The next brew in our renowned imperial line, this hearty stout is rich with coffee and chocolate notes, all achieved solely through the use of special roasted barley grains. The complex malt character blends the velvety sweetness of specialty grains with the creaminess of a classic stout. No flavoring has been added to this product.

Dark black pour with a big tan head and thick drippy lace. Roast, chocolate, and coffee on the nose. Flavor was very similar with molasses and vanilla. Alcohol was well masked. I really enjoyed this beer for free (or close to free) at WBF! Paying 11-12 dollars a bomber; i did not enjoy quite as much.

Great chocolate/coffee aroma. Thin on the palate. Light burnt coffee flavor with a nougatty 3 Musketeers bar aftertaste that is not pleasant or interesting enough to save it.

22oz bottle pours deep black with a light brown head that fades quickly. Medium coffee aroma but slightly like crushed cigarettes. A bit of bitterness in the initial taste with a little sweetness and some chocolate. Good Imp Stout, better than many of the others that are out there.

Actually, I was underwhelmed. Not as thick as I though it would be, and lacked much mocha flav. Had this sort of dry bitterness to the finish that was not great after a while.

Dark with a tan head, this one has some strong roast in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel which is a little lacking for an Imperial Stout. Taste is also overly roasted without a lot of sweet or chocolate flavor.

tap at Trappeze Pours deep black with brownish head. Aroma of coffee beans - mocha, malts Taste is filled with light coffee mocha with a very sweet and thick mouthfeel. Beer has a very subtle creamy feel that reminds me of lactose. Has plenty of roastiness at first followed by savory coffee bean notes. Alcohol remains very well hidden, even at 9.5abv. Finish is lightly bitter and hoppy.

Bottle from the buttplug..I mean Ross. Thanks. Pours a deep coffee brown/black with a somewhat lackluster 1/4" brown head. Very nice aroma of chocolate and dark pummy fruits. Full bodied with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor chocolate and red wine, with a some expresso and muted hops in the mix. Finish really loses points, as it has too much astringency and some acrid coffee bitterness. Overall a mess for me.

Bomber via trade with DMRz. Pours black with a black with a light brown head. Nose is sweet and malty with some nice light coffee, mocha notes. Taste is sweet, rich, viscous and very nicely smooth. This is a very tasty rich light coffee/mocha impy.
