Commercial Description:
Released Sept 21, 2008 (the day after brewgrass). The next brew in our renowned imperial line, this hearty stout is rich with coffee and chocolate notes, all achieved solely through the use of special roasted barley grains. The complex malt character blends the velvety sweetness of specialty grains with the creaminess of a classic stout. No flavoring has been added to this product.

Bomber via trade with DMRz. Pours black with a black with a light brown head. Nose is sweet and malty with some nice light coffee, mocha notes. Taste is sweet, rich, viscous and very nicely smooth. This is a very tasty rich light coffee/mocha impy.

Bottle. Black appearance, tan head, with nice lacing. Beautiful looking beer. Aroma is coffee, cream, roasted malts. Mocha is subdued some, compared to the regular stout, but still there. Flavor is thick, sweet, with caramel, chocolate, coffee and toffee.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a brief tan head leaving a haze. Nose is coffee, dark chocolate and plum with earthy notes and wet hay. Not quite thick but certainly substantial. Carb is sharp and tangy but a bit too prominent. Taste is chocolate, raisin and molasses fading to licorice and bitter grass.

Bottles in trade from MSchae1017 and ROBORB. Thanks! Pours a dark brown to black color with a short lived light tan head. Smell is dark and sweet chocolate, but somewhat mild. Taste is dry, semi bland chocolate and not too much coffee, except for a bit in the aftertaste. Overally, I found this to be pretty mild in flavor and a bit unimpressive compared to expectations from the reviews. Still drinkable and smooth with no hint of the ABV, which was nice.

Bomber courtesy of JCB. Pours a near pitch black with a one finger tan head and spotty lacing. Nose is roasty malt, milk chocolate and coffee. Taste is powered cocoa upfront with baker’s chocolate and espresso finishing it out. Mild bitter hop finish comes in at the end and lingers for awhile. Full, creamy mouth feel. Good stout – thanks Jason!
