Commercial Description:
Released Sept 21, 2008 (the day after brewgrass). The next brew in our renowned imperial line, this hearty stout is rich with coffee and chocolate notes, all achieved solely through the use of special roasted barley grains. The complex malt character blends the velvety sweetness of specialty grains with the creaminess of a classic stout. No flavoring has been added to this product.

22oz bottle, Vintage 2008. Very black. Loads of roast in the aroma. Nice notes of coffee, licorice, and cocoa. This bottle has aged perfectly. I loved it. Flavor has a deep roast, lots of chocolate, licorice, and coffee. Smooth. ABV is well hidden. Very nice roast throughout the beer, finishes with a nice fruit essence from the yeast. Wonderful.

Coffee, licorice and a meaty component in the nose that almost reminds of canned catfood?! Flavor is roasty with coffee but also alot of diacetyl and then alot of astringent burnt grain at the finish, along with a hot alcohol burn.

Very dark brown pour. Smells of alcohol, dark malts and bittering chocolate. Sharp chocolate aroma as well. Taste is creamy, dark chocolate bitter. Roasted notes come through as well. Nice.

22 ounce bottle 2008 edition thanks to hopdog. Pours out a completely opaque black color with a thick light brown head. The aroma is rich roasted malts and coffee. The flavor though, is awesome; slight bitter roasted and coffee flavor, a rich super-decadent dark fruit, chocolate and mocha, but loads of dark fruit. Heavily roasted. Yeah, this is the stuff I dig. That chewy intense dark fruit- I love it. Man, I love this Brewery.

bottle, probably about a year old. filtered clear dark cola brown, small brown head that dies quickly. nose: almond-scented nail polish remove and butane soaked roasted malt and dark chocolate. light notes of plum brandy and solvent. syrupy up front, somewhat thin to begin with but thickens across the back, where it finishes with just a touch of sourness and a mixed spice (as in ginger, cumin, paprika) note - hints of mexican chocolate. lasting finish is thin and syrupy with butter toffee and dark chocolate notes. probably isn’t in great condition after a year in the bottle.

Bomber, 08 from TBS, thanks matt. Poured into a snifter, black in color with a small head. Nice roasted malt aroma with some oats. Taste is lots of roasted malts, chocolate, , light coffee, oats and slight bitterness to. Texture is a little oily but smooth. Decent imperial stout to sip on a cold rainy night.

2008 bottle, thanks to Daknole. Pours black wtih a medium tan head. quickly dissapating head. Nice nutty roasted malt aroma and some chocolate. Wow, the mouth is heavenly. Silky smooth, very creamy with nice maltyness shining through. Big though, the strong dark malts punch down the throat and come back through the nose. bakers chocolate and bitterss round out the lingering finish. Very nice!
