The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, wood, soy sauce, alcohol, and some bourbon, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Bomber pours inky, thick, and opaque with a small light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, nuttiness, and vague fruity esters. Creamy and nearly full bodied. Taste has dark and milk choclate, roasted coffee, dark fruits, and toasted almonds. Alcohol is well hidden considering the potency. An astringent graininess emerges midway and stays to the finish. A nice impy stout, but I was a little disappointed in this one considering how much I enjoy Highland’s original Black Mocha stout. phaleslu (557), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2009 Picked up this bomber today at Green’s and decided to use a tulip glass for the sampling. The pour looked good with a deep dark brown color, and opaque body. The head was well proportioned at two finger thick and looked a shade lighter than khaki. The aroma was full of coffee, toffee, and chocolate and was true to the mocha portion of the name. The taste was full of roasted grain goodness with a cracker like dry mouthfeel. The flavors were not full on like most imperial stouts, but were pleasantly meaty. The beer lacked much sweetness, and the hops and burnt grain made for quite a bitter finish. Quite substantial in body and therefore very satisfying. I don’t think this will be much of an aging beer, but I might try it if I get around to picking up some more. Very nice wood and chocolate aroma. Definitely a sweet smelling beer. Nice nuanced flavor; chocolate, ash, roast, and some sweet. I think Highland did a very good job with this beer. Very smooth beer indeed. Great beer, except for the $12 price tag. Found at Greens on Buford Highway. Nice slight hop aroma towards the end. Good beer.
